Who We Are

Our Founders & History:

Founded in 1986 by Edward Jednorowicz and his family, Engineered Building Products is a privately owned metal fabrication business located in Bloomfield, CT.

The company began its operations without a fabrication shop in New Britain, CT in 1986, moved to a rented shop in West Hartford in 1989 and built a structural/misc shop in Bloomfield in 1999. In 2013 the company purchased a building across the street from the main shop, modernized it, added cranes and good lighting and converted it to a shop for non-ferrous and custom work. After the non-ferrous building was added a portion of the main shop was converted to a forge shop for doing custom work on gates, fences, rails, etc.

Our Owners:

Joel Smith (President) and Terry DeMorais (Treasurer/Secretary) are the owners.

Joel, a Professional Engineer, has been in the structural steel/miscellaneous metal business since 1981 and has helped to run EBP since its inception. Joel has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Connecticut. Joel enjoys problem solving and working on difficult or challenging projects of all kinds. He especially enjoys working on historic restoration projects.

Terry, a CPA, also has many years of experience in both public accounting and in the metal fabrication business as she oversees and is responsible for all accounting functions. Terry holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Connecticut. Terry has been at Engineered Building Products since 1989.

Our Team:

EBP is proud to have a great team of employees, subcontractors and vendors that have varied and complimentary skills. Many of the employees at EBP have been with the company for over 10 years and several for more than 25 years. Similarly, EBP treats their subs and vendors with respect and enjoys the benefits of close working relationships.
